This morning Smith & Wesson announced their folding pistol-caliber carbine is available in 10mm. I find this to be an interesting choice. While we hear "I'd buy it if it was in 10mm" all over the internet, Sales numbers show that 380 Auto outsells 10mm. The other unfortunate fact I discovered a couple of years back is that, unlike 9mm, 10mm has limited gain when fired from longer barrels. When I reviewed the CMMG Banshee for the magazines a couple of years back I chronographed 13 different loads of 10mm through three different barrel lengths and found the gain past 6" to be minimal. (see that data HERE)
Combine those factors and a 10mm carbine (from anyone, I'm not talking about any specific manufacturer) is something that costs more to feed, with heavier ammunitiona and lower capacity than another option. If you want 10mm, stick to a 4-6" barrel.
The S&W Press release lacked specs and pricing, so I've added those at the end of the official release.

"MARYVILLE, TN., (3/18/2025) – Smith & Wesson Brands, Inc. (NASDAQ Global Select: SWBI), a leader in firearm manufacturing and design, is pleased to announce the release of the M&P FPC chambered in 10mm Auto.
The optics-ready FPC, now chambered in 10mm, utilizes a blowback design and is equipped with three 15-round double-stack M&P M2.0 pistol magazines. It features an integrated recoil buffer system, an overall length of 30 ⅜ inches, and can fold to a compact length of 16 ⅜ inches for easy storage. The horizontal folding mechanism of the FPC provides a locking latch to ensure secure transport and prevents interference with most top-mounted optics or accessories. Its 9/16-24 threaded muzzle can be paired with the user’s preferred suppressor, while the in-stock magazine storage facilitates fast and efficient reloading.
The M&P FPC handguard features an upper Picatinny rail and M-LOK® slots for accessories, a flat-face trigger with a crisp break, and interchangeable palmswell grip inserts for comfort. It also includes a carrying bag with multiple storage compartments to keep components and accessories organized and secure. In addition to the new standard 10mm model, Smith & Wesson now also offers a compliant version that shares the same feature set but includes three 10-rounds magazines.

A few hours later S&W released an update, it seems someone told them you need to explain some features if you want people to be interested. Below is the updated information.
"Length of pull - The receiver length was increased to accommodate the longer cartridge, also increasing length of pull.
Bolt weight - To decrease felt recoil and increase reliability with a majority of 10mm loads, the bolt mass was increased with tungsten weights.
Buffer system - The FPC features a two-stage buffer system, with the 10MM version featuring both a heavier main spring and heavier secondary spring at the end of travel. Additionally, a urethane endcap in the buffer system was added to decrease the final kick of felt recoil.
Charging handle - The charging handle was redesigned with a latching system to hold it in place under the heavier recoil of 10mm.
Magazine release - For better ergonomics, the mag release has been extended so you don't have to adjust your grip to press it. Additionally, the magazine release is reversible for left-handed shooters.
Frame - The grip frame is built off our full-size 10mm pistol frame, fitting standard 15-round M&P magazines.
Barrel - The barrel features a 9/16"-24 thread pitch."
